Larry Jent is an Eagle Scout; West Point Graduate; former Infantry Officer, Paratrooper, and Special Forces Officer (Green Beret). He served on Active Duty in Alaska and Fort Devens, Massachusetts, in the Army National Guard in Both Colorado and Montana. Upon graduation from the University of Colorado Law School, and has practiced law in Montana for 32 years.
He was first elected to the Montana House of Representatives in 2000, where he served three terms. He was then elected to the Montana Senate in 2006 and re-elected in 2010. He also represented Montana at the 1996, 2000, and 2008 Presidential Nominating Conventions. As a legislator, he served on the Judiciary, State Administration, and Fish and Game Committees as well as the Select Pension Committee. He counts among his significant legislative sponsorships Montana's toughest in the nation anti-telemarketing bill, the poacher's package, pension reform, HB35 which increased the numbers and pay of Highway Patrolmen, meth lab crackdown, DUI reform, and bills supporting Montana's Veterans.
